Iman, Somalia born and one of the first Black Supermodels of our time is up for a very prestigious award! The Council of Fashion Designers of America is recognizing her with an award for being a Fashion Icon. Iman has been gracing the Fashion and Beauty industry for more than 34 years and her commitment continues on today! Iman's first fashion job was with Vogue Magazine where she became an instant hit! She has worked with Gianni Versace, Calvin Klein, Donna Karan, and Yves Saint-Laurent and other notable top designers. She is also a prominent film actress playing in Oscar-winning films such as Out of Africa alongside Robert Redford and Meryl Streep. She is also CEO of IMAN Cosmetics, Skincare & Fragrances, a line she launched in May of 2007. What is truly recognizable of this amazing woman is her continued involvement in several charities. She is a spokesperson for the Keep a Child Alive program as well as working closely with, among others, the Children's Defense Fund. Fashion is not merely a tool to express our individuality but it is also a tool to inspire. Thank you Iman for your continued work, it is an inspiration to us all!
