I Was Inspired # 3

I just got back from seeing the movie, Clash of The Titans, which has been an childhood favorite movie. Now it is one of my favorite movies of the year! I was inspired to make a set on Polyvore that would express my excitement and found this lovely Olive Dress by, La Petite S***** . Even though the costume design for this movie was played over the top despite the original 1980's version, I liked that it did not take away from the actors ability to draw you in and convince you that you was apart of the mythological epic. So I have drawn from that, creating a set that is simple yet bold in its design. Pullng from trends of today, yet pieces that would appear timeless.

The Future of The Dress

Balenciaga, Versace and Hussein Chalayan, Stella McCartney are designers who have shaped the Sci-Fi trend. Dresses this season are sculpted into geometric shapes and metallic fabrics are used. Inspiration comes from architectural shapes and designs take on asymmetrical silhouettes. My favorite designer to work this trend is Alexander McQueen and his fall 2010 collection. Making use of brilliant prints and intertwining the Victorian era with an alien imagined future was the height of creativity and design genius that you can only expect from McQueen.


The Find: The Virtual Leather Vent Dress. Futuristic vintage 1980s genuine leather mini dress featuring giant structured shoulders with vented skirt.

6 looks plus a cover, Chloë Sevigny is the perfect model for the Wonderland theme photo spread for Russia Harper Bazaar. She just envokes dreamy and has a casual way of looking good in whatever she puts on. This helped to make some of the bazaar pieces she had to wear look absolutely amazing! The tea cup hat and ruffled dress with double exposure of her is my favorite of the editorial!
