Keep Calm & Collage

As I prepared myself to begin writing daily about fashion again, I couldn't help but panic because I've really been "lost in the forest" for about two years now. I've placed all my time and attention into my growing boys and loving husband. I've also began to grow in a different direction in style expression and my mind has been wrapped up in that concept as well. As I frantically make my way over to Style.com, I of course make my first stop checking the latest trends of fall 2011. My eyes drawing instantly to the Collage Studies. And well, I got excited because my entire basis of changing style expression extends from my interest and love in Japan Street Fashion. In particular the Street Fashion without style boundaries.

The unpredictable mix of shapes and colors lends for an excitable adventure scanning the outfit to conceptualize it's existence. Which is why I loved Rei Kawakubo's Comme des Garçons collection for Fall 2011. Just reading the introduction to this Japanese clothing designer struck a note in my heart! I love her passion to experiment! Her half & half RTW collection for Fall 2011 left me bewildered. An experiment of disposing the rules to bring about new shape or form. And the result, in my opinion, was an collection both fanatical as it is wearable. Yet not for the passive hobbyist. The sheer exposure of skin and nipple speaks of her desire to break free from the rules that define modern wear. It is as if we're at an enchanting carnival that test our senses of what we believe we can wear.

As I delighted in Rei Kawakubo's fantasy, I found my mind drifting back to Wonderland Magazine and one of their most eye popping covers for their November Issue. The cover wonderfully entitled,"Let Me Be Your Fantasy" pulled me into a world of surrealism. A whimsical collage of photographs executed magically by Elena Rendina. Her photographs has a way of pulling you into a child like atmosphere of stark, stiff-like models. The photographs exciting your senses purposely; playing on a brilliant mix of styling.
